First Graders in front of the Mississippi river at Mud Island

First Grade Field Trip to Mud Island

We had such a great time in Memphis on Friday. The children were able to view replicas of riverboats, steam engines, fish native to Mississippi, Elvis Presley's songs and clothes, all with the beautiful Mississippi River as a backdrop to Mud Island. First Graders also took a tour of the riverwalk to further their understanding of the Mississippi River. To end the day, we enjoyed food and games at Chuck E. Cheese. A big thank you goes to Carman Jenkins, Tricia Showalter, Jeanette Styers, The Parkers, Alison Alger, Ashley Huggins, Allison Harris, and Bridget Cuneo for driving and chaperoning. The children were great!

We've had a bear-tastic week! We have learned about real bears and contrasted them with pretend bears. Check out the bulletin board next to Mrs. Sandy's classroom. First graders enjoyed eating bear food, playing bear bingo, and graphing gummy bears. Thank you for sharing your treasures with Mrs. Sandy and OUS!
